Here’s an 8 page forum thread discussing this issue with various high powered video cards. Doesn’t seem to be any consistent solution to the problem.
It seems to be related to resonance issues with coils on the card or the ones in the power supply.
Replacing the card with another only worked for isolated cases, the problem resurfaced with the new card for most people.
The solution seems to be different for each computer and is usually found only by a trial and error method.
